CELEBRATING THE TOP INTERNATIONAL BLACK MODELS OF 2017

Though far from ideal, 2017 saw some form of rise in the number of black models on mainstream international catwalks, including at  the column-inch-grabbing Victoria’s Secret show. For many apt reasons, we crowned the Nigerian teen Mayowa Nicholas – our current print edition Cover star, as our Model of the year. But that did not preclude many more who would have made the cut if we had to. As we look forward to the time when diversity in the fashion and beauty industry  will become a non-news-story worth highlighting hopefully starting with 2018, here are some of our favourite black models that made their mark in the past year.  Celebrate them we do.
