Dr Thorn Jessica works to protect essential ecosystem services of importance to humanity, improve resilience to global environmental change. Her research had multiple study areas and came up with rich findings for action. She determined the impacts of seasonal variability on water supply in rural and peri-urban areas. It also assessed synergies and trade-offs on water-related ecological infrastructures identifying barriers to the mainstreaming of ecological infrastructure for adaptation. Alongside her investigations, she examined diverse, scenarios to achieve desired water-security and sufficiency futures outlined in the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda 2063.
