15 Looks from South Africa Menswear Week

Girls dressed as boys, why not? London Fashion Week may already be upon us but we are still hearkening back to South Africa Menswear Week earlier this month. With delightful fur coats to sheer tops, elegant drapery to soft velvet, exquisite ’70s silhouettes to crop tops and dresses, menswear has never been this androgynous, giving us plenty of excuses to raid our significant others’ wardrobes. Here are the 15 looks we wouldn’t mind nabbing for ourselves.

Martin Kadinda

Black Dog brought us this throwback to the Grunge era with black tank top and matching books and khaki jogger pants. Perfect for the laid-back Grunge look – perfect on its own or layered up for colder days.

Blanc

This tailored trousers and colour-blocked cascading poncho-coat combo from Blanc gives us life. Pair with brown brogues and it’s the ultimate take on the androgynous chic.

Chulaap

Prints upon prints upon prints in complementary green and beige from Chulaap is a master-class in mixing and matching prints.

Imprint

This white trans-seasonal Mac from Imprint that can also double up as a dress? Say no more!

Jagadi Man

Who says men cannot rock sheer? But as they say, whatever a man can do, a woman can do even better so it is left to us to get our hands on Jagadi’s impeccable sheer shirts and show men how to rock them.

Jenevive Lyons

Soft tailoring and velvet. Sign us up already for this gorgeous female-friendly look from Jenevive Lyons.

Kim Gush

A touch Gringe, a touch athleisure, this Kim Gush look is the ultimate laid back look for girls who want to look edgy while showing a little bit of skin.

Kola Kuddus

Nigerian designer Kola Kuddus is another name to play with soft tailoring, prints and ’70s inspired earthen shades. This perfect trousers, shirt and vest combo is a look we see ourselves rocking with a pair of wedges.

Martin Kadinda

Give us this Martin Kadinda print Mac already!

Maxivive

Maxivive delights us with this soft silk trouser suit which has a bit of an ’80s vibe going with the deep plunge and the rich emerald colour. Pair with metallic sandals to jazz it up or opt for a pair of green masculine flats for the ultimate androgynous chic.

Merwe Mode

Wide leg culottes with matching shirts in muted shades complete with pocket triangles? We definitely can do with these Merwe Mode looks for the new season.

Orange Culture

If Orange Culture gives us orange crochet knit tops paired with burgundy flared trousers, we won’t say no of course.

Pilgrim

Dresses over trousers may be so last season but this look by Pilgrim makes us want to make it last longer. Wear with sandals for the ultimate boho chic.

Young and Lazy

Stripes are big this year and this effortless cape shirt and culotte combo by Young and Lazy seems like the perfect way to earn your style stripes.

Rich Mnisi

Pair it with denims and a heavy slogan knit, as seen here, or a little black dress, this cobalt blue cocoon coat by Rich Mnisi is everything.
