Africa’s Got Talent: CANEX Presents Africa @ Portugal Fashion – a retrospective

The 4th edition of CANEX Presents Africa @ Portugal Fashion – an initiative supported by Afreximbank – is concluding on 18 March 2023, after 4 days of fashion extravaganza in the Portuguese city of Porto. As we await what the show has had to offer, here is a retrospective glimpse of what it gave us last year.

Afreximbank implemented the Creative Africa Nexus Programme (CANEX), to facilitate the development and growth of the creative and cultural industries in Africa and the diaspora, given its importance as a key driver for development and job creation. The programme provides a range of financing and non-financing instruments and interventions as well supports Africa’s production, trade and investment in creative content.

CANEX Presents Africa @ Portugal Fashion provides a platform for the development of emerging fashion designers.

To date, 50 designers representing 25 African countries and its diaspora have benefited from this initiative, which is designed to facilitate linkages between designers and industry stakeholders including buyers, investors, manufacturers and press.

In addition to showcasing platforms, this programme also provides mentorship and networking sessions between the designers and key international industry experts.
