Now a Grammy winner, Tems, without a doubt is part of a new wave of African artists breaking stereotypes, boundaries and records with admirable passion. We celebrate her.
2022 was a good year for Tems. She followed her chart-topping successes with even more international recognition. Her cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry” was featured in the official teaser trailer of Marvel’s Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever, one of the most anticipated films of 2022. She also co-wrote “Lift Me Up” with Rihanna — one of the world’s most famous faces in music. The song, which is the feature soundtrack for Wakanda Forever is the Barbadian singer’s first music release in 6 years, prompting Tems’ fans to claim that she “literally brought Rihanna out of her prolonged musical hiatus.”
